Rubric Scoring Worksheets

The Rubric Scoring Worksheet (RSW) provides a user-friendly, interactive, digital tool that local school teams (teachers, parents, board members) can use to assess their school’s performance on any one of the Benchmarks in the National Standards and Benchmarks for Effective Catholic Elementary and Secondary Schools (NSBECS). When school teams apply the RSW in conjunction with the Benchmark Rubrics, they are guided through a process that helps them: 1) build a shared understanding of what the benchmark means for their school performance, 2) develop an evidence plan, 3) gather and assemble evidence, 4) analyze data found in the evidence and generate a rubric score, 5) briefly summarize the reasons that led to the benchmark rubric score, and 6) suggest next steps for school improvement. When used online, the RSW links directly with the benchmarks, rubrics, and other relevant resources on the Catholic School Standards Project website.

Schools are invited to download the RSW, save it on the school platform, and share it with rubric review teams. When teams have completed the RSW for a benchmark, the rubric score, summarized findings and suggested next steps can be copied into the school’s Dashboard for Rubric Scoring (DRS), also available on this website. The DRS offers schools an easy to use tool that provides a summary view of data and assists with the tracking of progress on rubric scoring schoolwide. The DRS worksheets are designed to be used with Microsoft Excel 2007 or newer, and any other spreadsheet software compatible with those versions. Some fidelity may be lost when using Google Sheets.

Important Note: Before teams begin using the RSW to guide them through the rubric scoring process, each team should agree on a platform of choice (Google docs, a shared server, Dropbox, etc.) that the team will use to save evolving drafts of the RSW and assemble data that the team can access during the rubric scoring process. The team should also decide on notation to indicate who is contributing and when.
